Padel positioning is about reducing easy options for your opponents. Good players do not simply hit better shots. They recover to better places.
Start with the team shape
Most positioning problems are partner problems. If one player moves and the other does not adjust, gaps appear.
Keep these ideas simple:
- Move as a pair
- Protect the middle when under pressure
- Recover after attacking
- Avoid standing too close to the side wall
Net position
At the net, you want to pressure the opponent without opening easy lobs. Stand close enough to volley but ready to move back for overheads.
Defensive position
When defending, give yourself space to use the glass. Players often stand too close to the back wall and make the ball feel faster than it is.
Review your own positioning
Video is especially useful for positioning because the mistake often happens before the shot. Use Padel Coach App to review where you were before contact, not only the shot result.
